![]() ![]() I am 29 year old father of newborn twins.any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I am still waiting on the Labs from UofM (the experts) but I am seeing an oncologist on Monday. My doctor seemed pretty optomistic, he believes that if it was malignant, I would most likely have other symptoms, since the tumor has been in my foot for at least 5 years. I am curious, if anyone has had an early prognosis of the tumor being malignant, then an expert prognosis was benign? The tumor was laying over my tendon that connects my big toe to my foot. My doctor said the tumor did not look malignant and it was not penetrating my bone. I had the tumor removed and my hospital stated that it was a Malginant Spindle Cell Tumor, but then put Pending Expert Consultation. The first diagnosis was a Giant Cell Tumor. Check out my full length video on squamous cell carcinoma &.The doctor did an MRI, which confirmed that it was a tumor. Sarcomatoid SCC (Spindle Cell Squamous Cell Carcinoma): 5-Minute Pathology Pearls The bump was on the right side of my big toe joint. In these cases prognosis is grim and chemotherapy and radiation are the only methods of controlling the cancer.I recently went to the doctor to have a bump on my left foot checked out. These locations can either be nearby tissues or system-wide locations that include the lungs, kidneys, and liver. The prognosis for a stage 1 tumor excision is usually fairly positive, but if the tumors progress to levels 2 and 3, prognosis is worse because tumor cells have likely spread to other locations. As such, at this level the tumor is usually treated by excision that includes wide margins of healthy-looking tissue, followed by thorough biopsy and additional excision if necessary. However, it may develop cancerous processes that can only be detected through microscopic examination. spindle cell carcinoma squamous cell carcinoma marked by development of rapidly proliferating spindle cells. At first the lump will be self-contained as the tumor exists in its stage 1 state, and will not necessarily expand beyond its encapsulated form. The tumors generally begin in layers of connective tissue such as that under the skin, between muscles, and surrounding organs, and will generally start as a small lump with inflammation that grows. Soft-tissue sarcomas are rare in adults, accounting for less than 1 percent of all new cases of cancer. The characteristic spindle cell phenotype of the neoplastic cells in SpCC is the result of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Spindle cell sarcoma is a type of connective tissue cancer in which the cells are spindle-shaped when examined under a microscope. Spindle cell sarcoma is a soft-tissue tumor that can start in the bone, often in the arms, legs or pelvis, said Siegel, a professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in the School of Medicine. Spindle cell carcinoma (SpCC), also referred to as sarcomatoid carcinoma, is a biphasic tumor composed of conventional SCC and malignant spindle cells. ![]() The cells are spindled, simulate a sarcoma (but stain for cytokeratin), and usually are more aggressive than non-spindle cell carcinomas. We conclude that there are three types of fibrous tumors of the pleura: (a) a localized, histologically benign, keratin-negative spindle cell tumor that might be termed "fibroma," (b) a diffuse, histologically malignant, keratin-positive neoplasm that might appropriately be termed a "sarcomatoid mesothelioma," and (c) a histologically malignant, keratin-negative, spindle cell tumor with the potential to spread under the pleura that might appropriately be termed a "sarcoma." Immunohistochemistry proved to be useful in distinguishing the sarcomatoid mesothelioma from the sarcoma. spindle cell carcinoma A carcinomaoften squamous cellwhich can occur on any epithelial surface (e.g., oral, anorectal, bladder, etc). This spindle cell tumor was consistently negative when stained for keratin. One case presented as a histologically malignant spindle cell tumor that was initially localized but recurred subpleurally three times in 12 years. Eight were diffuse malignant tumors that demonstrated intense immunohistochemical staining of the spindle cells with antibodies to keratin. Eight were benign localized fibrous tumors all of these were negative when stained with antibodies to keratin. Spindle cell carcinoma or sarcomatoid carcinoma of the trachea is an uncommon tumor. Spindle cell carcinoma (SpCC), a variant of squamous cell carcinoma, is a biphasic malignant neoplasm that occurs mainly in the upper aerodigestive tract. The clinicopathologic features of 17 fibrous tumors of the pleura are presented. ![]()
